How To Help

Our work at Picaflor House is only possible thanks to those who give up their valuable time to come and volunteer with us, and to the generosity of people who make financial donations. If you would like to contribute to our work and become part of the Picaflor family then here's how you can help:

Volunteer

Picaflor House volunteers come from a truly diverse range of backgrounds and from many different countries. We could not exist without the many volunteers who come from around the world to help. Not only do their donations support our work with the children, but our volunteers also teach, play games and sports, dance and make music, create incredible artworks … you name it, they do it.

They also help with practical tasks too, their back-breaking labour creating paths and sandpits, digging our garden, and painting our classrooms. They help tie shoelaces, wipe runny noses and give sad children big hugs, they laugh and sing and, sometimes when they're leaving, shed a few tears.

If you would like to know more about the 'ins and outs' of volunteering at Picaflor House, visit our Volunteer page, or visit the Globalteer website, our partner organisation that handles all our volunteer applications.

Make a donation

Picaflor House owes its continued existence entirely to donations - from volunteers, from individuals and from institutions and corporations. No matter how large or small, your donations are very welcome - even a small amount of money goes a long way in Peru!

All donations are used in accordance with our charitable objectives, so your gift will enable us to:

  • Provide a safe place for the children to live and learn
  • Provide decent healthcare for the children
  • Provide additional food for the children's nutritional needs
  • Provide educational materials
  • Provide sports equipment

If you would like to make a secure donation please go to our Virgin Money Giving page.

Fundraise for Picaflor House

Whether you’re looking to raise money for your volunteer donation, or want to send us some extra support, here are some materials and information that will help you in your fundraising efforts to support Picaflor House.

Materials

We have a poster and bookmarks with information about our work that you can give to friends and distribute at events.

Set up a donation page on the Virgin Money Giving website

You can set up an individual page for your own fundraising or for a sponsored event, like a fun run.

  1. Go to the Virgin Money Giving website: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/giving/.
  2. Click on 'Start fundraising.'
  3. Click on 'Someone special.'
  4. Under 'Who's the special person you're fundraising for?*' please type the name of your project, e.g. Peru Kids Project or Picaflor House Community Project. (This part is very important for Globalteer to easily identify who the money is for).
  5. In the next section ‘Charity’, please make sure you enter Globalteer in the ‘Charity’s name’ data entry field. This is very important as the money has to reach us so we assign it to your campaign.

Increased funding will also enable us to address the broader needs of the people living in and around Oropesa and Cusco. For more information on our future plans, please visit our What We Do page.
