Our little artists

Return to News

The trend started back in January when volunteer Sarah decided that, when she returned home to England, she was going to redecorate her living room in the colours of Peru. She bought a rug and some souvenirs but decided she needed a large colourful artwork for her wall. And she wanted a permanent reminder of the wonderful Picaflor kids she had come to know so well.

So, she commissioned our kids to make an artwork for her. In exchange for a substantial donation, our talented little artists made her a large colourful collage of hearts, flowers and butterflies. Everyone had a lot of fun in art classes that week and Sarah was thrilled with the finished work.

This week, our kids have made another sale of their work! After hearing about Sarah’s story, British volunteers Joanna and Lara decided they would also like to have a permanent reminder of their time volunteering at Picaflor. The results are very colourful, as you can see, and the donations will go towards buying a couple of microscopes for the science classes we plan to start very soon. These will open our kids’ eyes to a whole new world so thanks, Joanna and Lara, for your help with this. We hope that, when you’re home, one look at your artwork will transport you back to your happy days working with our Picaflor House kids.
