Picaflor House Community Project would like to give a warm welcome to Luis, our newest staff member. Luis is our new Picaflor House manager, taking over from Nelida who’s leaving us at the end of February to travel to Canada to further her English studies. Luis is a qualified primary school teacher, and has also taught English – he is very fluent – and Quechua, the language of the local indigenous people. The latter is very important as it will certainly ease communications with the local villagers when we begin to help the children of the small villages surrounding our current base in Oropesa. As well as taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of Picaflor House Community Project, Luis will also teach classes in Spanish, art and maths, assist the children with their homework, and help us with the garden we plan to start shortly.
